"HONEYMOON"

38.5" x 50.5"

The allure of my art often lies in the clever use of double entendres within the painting titles. Given this, one might naturally assume that in this piece, I would render the moon in the color of honey. However, during the creative process and the careful selection of the color palette, it became clear to me that the lady in the painting was better suited to embody the essence of honey itself.

While marriages in the Wild West were far from the lavish affairs we see in the 21st century, I have no doubt that the excitement of marriage and the initial time spent together were just as exhilarating back then. Even in the absence of all-inclusive resort packages and exotic island getaways, the simple act of uniting and embarking on life's journey together was fulfillment in itself. "Honeymoon" captures precisely that sentiment—riding side by side, two become one to accomplish the paradoxical task of settling a raw and broken land
