"FLOWER MOON"

38.5" x 50.5"

The Full Moon of May, known as the Flower Moon, is a beautiful nod to the blossoming flowers that grace this month. Native Americans bestowed it with various names, such as the Budding Moon, Milk Moon, and Planting Moon, each capturing the essence of the season. In all of my paintings, you'll find either a sun or moon, as they offer endless wellsprings of inspiration, particularly when drawing from the rich tapestry of Native American culture.

In this particular painting,  I aimed to depict the young woman as the embodiment of the flower under the moon's gentle glow. The subtle flower adorning the cowboy hat is a discreet nod to the title's origins. Contrary to my usual approach, which often infuses action and movement into the characters, here, the stillness exudes a serene aura when observed. The painting's undertones invite one to ponder what lies within her thoughts. Is she making a wish, simply unwinding, or contemplating a profound decision ahead? The beauty of this piece lies in its narrative open-endedness, where you are the author of the next chapter in this tranquil, moonlit tale.
